Embergrave
This is a a farming colony that was founded around 9 decades ago, over the site of "the immolation" that occurred a century ago. The soil is very fertile and it provides a great deal of food to the capital and surrounding lands. For this reason, there is a significant military presence there, intended only to secure the colony. It is manned by 45 professional soldiers and 9 officers. They take their direct orders from the lord of embergrave, Sir Urian Huedebrand.
POWER PLAYERS
Sir Urian Hudebrand is a short, rotund man of middle age. He is balding and has a short beard. He is usually found feasting in his meeting hall. He resides in a 'longhouse syle' meeting hall upon his plantation grounds, where he primarily does his governance through his three sons and the captain of the garrisoned battalion.
Alderman Hudebrand - Late 20s, long blonde hair, chiseled features. Good rapport with Capt Geraldus. He is more interested in chasing girls and sparring than politics, though is is an accomplished bladesman in his own right. Somewhat racist.
Humfrey Hudebrand - Mid 20s, short dirty blonde hair, tall and somewhat lanky. Probably the most politically minded of the trio. He would be interested in a peaceful agreement with the kobolds, and a trade agreement could potentially be formed (herbalism and crafts for agriculture).
Bart Hudebrand - 17. Scrawny, dark brown hair, short of stature, mousy features. He is very quiet, but is actually the most intelligent of the Hudebrand nobles. He is secretly allied with The Black Censure.
Captain Geraldus - Around 50 years old. A humorless man who got a "shit post" as a result of a love affair with a noble's daughter. He doesn't care much for Embergrave and doesn't feel there's any real danger, seeing his role as punitive and symbolic. He advises Urian similarly.
LOCATIONS
Hudebrand Plantation - palisade-walled complex in the center of town. Seat of power for the area, which houses and employs nearly 100 farm laborers.
Forest Passage stable. Buys and sells horses. The stable boy, Areli, saw something odd when one of the locals, Uroar came and traded out two exhausted horses for fresh ones, paying a large sum of coin for it.
The Nightingale - an elven cuisine restaurant owned by Theodmer Torsys, who is helped by his daughter Aelynthi and wife Shalana. It also serves as the most popular watering hole in Embergrave, and serve a locally brewed beer called Emberbrew as well as several imported drinks of varying quality. Aelynthi has heard rumors of a 'dragon cult' in town, but regards it as sort of a secret fraternity for some of the youth, to go out and drink in the woods. As she's been propositioned by one of them before, she knows one of their meeting spots.
Embergrave Emporium - Expansive general store owned and operated by Four Fingered Liam, an ex-bandit turned merchant. He buys and sells most things, including arms and armor from the local smiths. The shop itself is large, but cramped and seemingly disorganized. Several of the towns garrison moonlight there as guards to protect the merchandise, and there's always at least one on duty. Liam does most of the sales of supplies to the Embergrave Black Censure splinter, though he doesn't realize (or care to ask) who the supplies go to. Just "travelling merchants." He could be persuaded to tell the party that he has recently moved some scale mail and crimson fabric to a local shut-in dwarf called Uroar.
