Khokkul is the Sovereign of the Ikuz tribe of kobolds. His sister, Kreytzen, is a dragon-blooded kobold who will be willing to accompany the party if they perform a favor for her tribe. The favor is to slay a pair of basilisks who have taken residence in the swamps close to Lagoon Point.

Petrifying Gaze: If a creature starts its turn within 30 feet of the basilisk and the two of them can see each other, the basilisk can force the creature to make a DC 12 Constitution saving throw if the basilisk isn’t incapacitated. On a failed save, the creature magically begins to turn to stone and is restrained. It must repeat the saving throw at the end of its next turn. On a success, the effect ends. On a failure, the creature is petrified until freed by the greater restoration spell or other magic. Party travel's to the Kobold city of Ulguz (in and around the abandoned Lagoon Point)
Skograd's Tale:
Skograd is a 112 year old dwarf who is one of the very last remaining warriors who fought in the War of the Restless and witnessed the Dragontear conflict. He is initially standoffish but if the party succeeds a negotiation check, brings him free drinks, or offers him gold, he will tell his tale.
94 years ago (he was 16 y/o), the dwarves of Vum Dorahl, a kingdom within the Thundering Slopes, had taken up arms with the humans of Ioltar against the encroaching orcish and undead army of the residents of the Moore Timberlands. He remembers most vividly the Massacre of the Marshes, where he was serving to hold the line against the encroaching undead at Timber Point.
There was a strange energy in the air that day, like the minor magicks that street performs liked to sling, but everywhere. Suddenly, a shadow on the ground as a black dragon took to the skies. With a breath of acid, it melted most of the front line. The battlemages put up shields as the dwarves started to retreat towards Timber point, but the deadlings never stopped marching.
A portion of the battalion managed to enter the fortification, and the dragon began to tear at the tower, but was interrupted when a red dragon swooped down and they did battle. The dragons battled through the air, rending and tearing, acid and flame lighting up the sky. Being young and having more courage than sense, Skograd and a few of his companions set out to follow the dragons, hoping to win some of the glory from the dragon's defeat.
The dragons sparred in the air on and off for hours before the red one finally got the upper hand and took the black one down near a lake, immolating it and tearing it to shreds. This is where Embergrave was founded.
