ON THE SHIP:
Kreytzen has spent some time meditating at the Vault, and will state that she feels some sort of connection with it. If pressed, she will say that it was greatest during her sleep, where she had dreams of "soaring above lush and bountiful lands on broad, majestic wings."
The vault contains the soul of the black dragon Fymriphol, which will enter Kreytzen's body if she is killed or incapacitated.
---
The body of Taulnon, the goliath, is rapidly decomposing and the flesh seems to be slowly shedding from the bone. If the players inspect more closely, they will discover that his skeletal remains are latticed in intricate arcane script. It will take at least a day to attempt to decipher it's meaning or purpose. A successful heal or nature check will also reveal that these bones seem to have been 'created' rather than grown naturally.
IN THE CITY:
The city of Port Langsford is under attack by a reformed orcish army. Jordan Tybil is leading the defending forces.
Captain Gaffney has infiltrated the gate guards, and waits for the right moment to throw open the gates.
Lord Yasharan directs the defenses from inside the keep, but will soon arm himself and seek to join the fray.
The attack is being led by a fighter/mage orc named Lazgar the Godspawned. The orcs who have banded together believe that Lazgar is the son of the god Hadrus, and that he has been filled with a divine impetus to reclaim the 'stolen' orcish Moorelands.
In reality, two factors have allowed this to happen; firstly, the party has initiated the ritual that would finally shatter what was commonly known as The Dimunition, which had artificially limited the magical (and, inadvertently, cognitive) abilities of the orcs of the Moorelands. The Dimunition was put in place by powerful arcanists a century ago as part of a ceasefire following the War of the Restless and led to the subsequent fall of Keldrolkug.
The second is that Lazgar himself was a commander in the War of the Restless. As a failsafe, the orcs who casted the curse upon their own kind in order to save themselves also turned Lazgar to stone and tied the spell to the arcanity of the spell. When the spell was finally unravelled, Lazgar awoke and and the orcs saw him as a spawn of Hadrus given flesh.
WHAT MAY HAPPEN:
The orcs have overwhelming numbers and Port Langsford was caught relatively unprepared. Lord Yasharan's hope is to hold out until the aid he previously requested from the capital comes and hopefully flanks the orcs. However, this is very much a hail mary, and it appears the city will fall.
Jordan Tybil intends to give his life holding the gate, but Alyna will beg the party to convince him otherwise.
